Flying Kukris play colts & girls rugby (for those 12 years old and above) in a tournament format with professionally refereed matches against the likes of DeA Tigers, Football Club and DB Pirates. A change for the 2009 season is that we start with ten a side progressing to full fifteen a side in October. The season starts Sunday 23rd August. We currently field a U14B team, a U14G team, a U16B and a U16G (combined with other Clubs). This season will be the first in a long time that FK have fielded a U16B; the prospect look good, building on the strength of the last year’s U14B squad and a strong U16 core squad that had little opportunity to shine last year. The FK girls had a strong season last year and we plan to build on that through 2009-10. We welcome girls from other clubs who do not have a full squad to join our team. Our girls may also combine with other clubs to form teams if necessary. U14 players are those born in 1996 and 1997, U16s are those born in 1994 and 1995 and U19s are those born in 1991-93. Selection for the HK National Teams will start later this year than last though the coaches will be looking for strong candidates from the first session. We have a number of talented players in the FK squads and will be looking for even better representation this year. It is doubtful that we train at Community Sports Centre (CS) this season; the season starts at HKIEd Sports Centre which we hope to make our new home. Keep your eye on What's New for updates. Space may be limited for the first couple of weeks. This year, much as last year, matches will be grouped and played at various venues. We hope not to publish the FK newsletter this year so either check back regularly or use the RSS feed. The structure of the tournaments should be more stable this year but make sure you bookmark the FK website and use the RSS to keep up to date. Girls details will also be on Facebook. We don’t have the time to chase you, keep informed. For those needing transport, the info is here. A reminder about boots: the guideline for studs is that there cannot be a single stud at the toe, the studs must be less than 21mm long and the studs cannot be worn, abrasive or considered dangerous. Bring friends, as well as your kit, mouthguards, and lots of water on Sunday. The more you put into your training, the more you will get out of your matches.
