Coaching 2011/2012

I would like to extend a warm welcome to all current and new coaches for the 2011/2012 season. There are a few changes to the structure of the coaching support this season, I am still Head of Coaching and will take up the role of Head Coach of the colts and Mark Leonard will be taking up the role of Head Coach for the minis. I am sure all you mini coaches and team managers will give Mark all the support he needs.

We had  very enjoyable and challenging coaching courses over the summer at U8 and Level 1 organised by the HKRFU which were very well attended, my congraulations go out to all those who sucessfully completed the courses.

Andy has done a great job over the summer keeping the website up to date with lots of coaching information, it is there for your benefit so please use it. There is lots of information on skills and drills and you can plan your whole training session with the information available.

The HKMRFU has been looking at the laws and tournament structure  for the minis over the summer and proposals have been made to bring Hong Kongs minis more in line with they way the game is structured and played in Australia and New Zealand. These proposals will be  voted on this coming Thursday at the HKMRFU committee meeting and hopefully lead to more challenging and longer games for the minis. Mark and I will discuss this further with the age group head coaches once the proposals have been adopted.

As you are all aware the season kicks off  this Sunday 21 August at HKIE and being summer it will be hot and humid so keep things nice and easy with lots of water breaks and sitting in the shade.

On a final note Mark and I are here to support you as coaches so if you have any questions or need any help please feel free to approach us.

See you all on Sunday.

David

More about the page from Andy

On this page, there are various tools that you, as a coach, will hopefully find helpful.

On the right the 4 boxes contain links to more coaching info. If you just see 4 green Menu bars and no links below, that's because you are not logged in as a Kukris' coach: the Login is the bottom left red menu.

Further down on the right in Rugby Gems, I've added links to various articles that either give you an overview of the game or offer specific training drills for skills.

Please note that FK also hold a number of rugby DVDs, If you want to borrow them, just ask David Holden.

I'd like to think that this process will be a 2 way street and you will get to me with any gems you discover.

Andy
